Happy Summer

A Year of Community

As another school year comes to a close, I want to take a moment to simply say thank you.

One of the greatest privileges of being a principal is getting to witness the countless moments—both big and small—that make a school community special. This year has been filled with them. From students helping one another on the playground, to families volunteering their time, to staff going above and beyond every single day, I have been reminded over and over that a strong school is built by people who care deeply about one another.

At EGHE, we often talk about our PACK values: Perseverance, Accountability, Community, and Kindness. This year, I have seen those values come to life in so many ways. I have watched students cheer each other on during Sports Day, welcome new classmates, solve problems together, perform on stage with courage, and celebrate one another's successes. I have seen families support school events, volunteer behind the scenes, and partner with us in helping children learn and grow. I have watched our staff create classrooms where students feel safe, challenged, and valued. Community isn't something that simply exists—it is something we create together through thousands of everyday actions. Every smile, every helping hand, every conversation, every act of kindness, and every person who chooses to contribute makes our school a better place.

As we look ahead to next year, I hope we continue to build on that foundation. A strong sense of belonging gives each of us the confidence to contribute, to take responsibility for one another, and to make our community even stronger. Every member of our school has something valuable to offer, and together we make EGHE the wonderful place that it is.

To our students, thank you for bringing your curiosity, creativity, humour, and heart to school each day. To our families, thank you for your trust, encouragement, and partnership. To our PAC, volunteers, and community members, thank you for the countless ways you enrich our school. And to our incredible staff, thank you for your unwavering dedication to our students. Your care, professionalism, and commitment are what make EGHE such a special place to learn.

I hope everyone has an opportunity this summer to slow down, spend time with loved ones, enjoy the beauty of our community, and return in September rested and ready for another wonderful year together.

Thank you for making this such a memorable year. It has truly been a joy to be part of this community.

Have a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved summer!

Parking and Dogs on School Property Protocols:

  • Please remember to adhere to our parking protocols to ensure a safe and organized drop-off and pick-up process for everyone.
  • We welcome dogs on school property but kindly request that they be kept on a leash at all times. This helps maintain a safe and respectful environment for all members of our school community.

Hello EGHE Families,

As a friendly reminder, the School District 48 (Sea to Sky) has policies in place to maintain a safe and healthy environment on school grounds, including specific guidelines about dogs on school property.

Under Policy 804, please keep the following in mind when bringing dogs to school sites:

  1. Leashing Requirements: All dogs on school property must be leashed, tethered, and under the control of a responsible person at all times. This helps ensure the safety of students, staff, and other community members.

  2. Clean-Up: If a dog defecates on school grounds, the person in control of the dog is required to clean up and dispose of the waste properly.

  3. Annual Review: Each school’s principal will meet with the Parent Advisory Council and staff yearly to review this policy and discuss any local guidelines that may be in place. Our current local guidelines are to maintain a safe distance from classroom lineups by keeping dogs off the asphalt in the courtyard past the yellow gate (as many children are fearful of dogs and many dogs on leash in a small area can become aggressive with one another).

We appreciate your help in keeping our schools a safe and welcoming place for everyone (including our furry friends).
