In 2023 an initial garden design was developed by Squamish CAN for GHE (see attached plan). Your input at this time is appreciated, to help shape the final garden design and balance sustainability, education, and student wellbeing.

STUDENT AND FAMILY AFFORDABILITY FUND
We would like to update you on the grant from the Ministry of Education and Childcare to make school more affordable for students and their families struggling with rising costs of living due to global inflation. We are mindful that many families in our community are struggling with the increased cost of living. We want every family to know that they are eligible for financial assistance through the Student & Family Affordability fund, no questions asked.
This one-time funding support (this year) will be allocated towards school-related expenses, including:
- School supplies
- Field Trip funds
- Family food security
- Basic necessities
- Clothing/footwear
- Other necessities
The funds will be available through gift cards from Save-On-Foods for foods and other supplies. We will also continue to support anyone who requires assistance with paying to participate in our hot lunch program. If you require support in one of the other above areas, feel free to inquire and we will do our best to accommodate on a case-by-case basis.
If you would like to access the affordability fund, please let the office know by email to myself at [email protected] & share what you may need support for from the above list. Please be patient while we organize getting these gift cards and a system in place to support our families. If for whatever reason you have not heard back from me within a week, please re-send just in case it was missed. We don’t want any barriers for you to receive this support.
Online Payments & Online Forms
The Sea to Sky School District has rolled out School Cash Online, an easy to use, safe and convenient way for parents and guardians to pay for their children’s school fees, such as field trips.
Powered by the Canadian firm KEV Group, School Cash Online strictly adheres to Canada’s privacy and anti-spam legislation and meets the latest industry standards for payment security. Any Canadian data collected is held on Canadian servers.
Online payment is the preferred method of settling school fees and all parents are encouraged to use this system.
The Annual Student Personal Information Tech & Media Form 706.1A(b), The Student Information & Technology (ICT) Agreement (K-6 students) need to be signed every year by parents. We are also having all parents sign the Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act Consent for Web 2.0 Tools 708.1A(a). This form will only need to be signed this year. These forms have also been uploaded and should be signed through School Cash online by September 18th .

Hello EGHE Families,
As a friendly reminder, the School District 48 (Sea to Sky) has policies in place to maintain a safe and healthy environment on school grounds, including specific guidelines about dogs on school property.
Under Policy 804, please keep the following in mind when bringing dogs to school sites:

Leashing Requirements: All dogs on school property must be leashed, tethered, and under the control of a responsible person at all times. This helps ensure the safety of students, staff, and other community members.

Clean-Up: If a dog defecates on school grounds, the person in control of the dog is required to clean up and dispose of the waste properly.

Annual Review: Each school’s principal will meet with the Parent Advisory Council and staff yearly to review this policy and discuss any local guidelines that may be in place. Our current local guidelines are to maintain a safe distance from classroom lineups by keeping dogs off the asphalt in the courtyard past the yellow gate (as many children are fearful of dogs and many dogs on leash in a small area can become aggressive with one another).
We appreciate your help in keeping our schools a safe and welcoming place for everyone (including our furry friends).
Here at Garibaldi Highlands we have a few rules regarding bikes on school property. These rules are intended to keep our students safe while on school grounds. All adults and children on school property during school time as well as during drop off and pick up must follow these following safety rules.
- Bikes MUST be walked at all times on school property, with the exception of the actual roadways in the parking lot and bus loop. There should never be anyone riding any sort of bike on a sidewalk, a walkway, a courtyard, or a crosswalk for any reason.
- Bikes on the roadways MUST follow traffic laws and the flow of traffic. The bus loop must be entered on the same side a car would enter and ridden through in the same direction a car would go, and the parking lot should be ridden through in the same direction as cars drive.
- If a staff member asks you to dismount from your bike for any reason that staff member must be treated in a respectful manner and the direction must be followed.
- Students who have been asked to dismount from their wheels and continue to ride will have their bike/scooter live in the makerspace for the day and a parent will have to pick it up.
